Our Story

Hi. I’m Simon. I started my working career in the Merchant Navy, and after leaving there, worked “on the tools” for a few years in both the home improvement and industrial machinery industries. Now, after 30 years working in technical systems design and sales in the MEP sector of the construction industry, primarily in the NHS and Hospital sector, retirement from my industry job leaves myself and my wife Claire with the time to transfer our experience and skills acquired both from our professional careers and 45 years of house renovations and DIY projects, to the residents of Much Hoole and the surrounding villages.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a reliable and high quality service for small handyman jobs offered on a time-charge basis from as little as 1/2 hour.

Small jobs and Specialist Services
In addition to small repair, replacement and other “handyman” jobs, our particular design and technical skills and experience mean we can offer a range of specialist services including door, skirting and architrave installation, sash window repairs, supply and fit of all types of blinds and shutters, custom-made cabinets and storage solutions, automation of Velux windows, and 12v professional garden lighting systems.

Advice and Hands-on Assistance for your DIY projects
We also offer hands-on support and assistance to people wanting to carry out their own DIY projects but who are concerned they don’t have either the skills or the tools for some of the trickier aspects. We can help the DIYer with both small and large projects. For example we are able to design, specify materials and assist in the construction of garden rooms, where a combination of customer DIY and experienced external planning & support can save £1000’s over a fully contracted-out install. During any and all projects carried out by us, we offer to explain and teach the customer the aspects of the job as it progresses; our aim is to help people improve their own DIY skills. We are particularly interested in helping younger people to realise their capabilities in maintaining and improving their own homes.

DIY “Guru”
After over 40 years of DIY and house renovation, we have a huge amount of knowledge and experience. Even if you don’t want hands-on assistance with your project, you can still take advantage of our knowledge by booking a 1 hour “consultancy”. We can advise you whether we think your project is DIYable, what the challenges are, help calculate how much material you will need, where to purchase the materials from, what tools you might need, and most importantly, what safety aspects and hazards you should consider. Having a “project plan” can save you ££££s.
